Full Form of LISP
List Processing
LISP Full Form is List Processing. It is an electronic language that was created for the simple management of databanks. LISP was formed in 1959 by John McCarthy. It is usually used for artificial intelligence (AI) programming, also is one of the dated programming languages still largely operated. Lisp is the second-oldest complex programming language in extensive use currently; only FORTRAN is one year senior. Lisp has undergone immense transformation since its initial days. Currently, the best widely prevalent general-purpose Lisp dialects are Common Lisp and Scheme.
Initially, Lisp was made as a precise mathematical system for computer programs, inspired by the system of Alonzo Church’s lambda calculus. Soon it turned out to be the preferred programming language for artificial intelligence (AI) study. Being one of the initial program design languages, Lisp founded various concepts in computer science, like tree data structures, automatic storage management, dynamic typing, conditionals and higher-order functions.
Linked lists are one of Lisp’s main files structures, and even Lisp Foundation program is made up of lists. Thereby Lisp programs can operate source code as a data construction, creating the macro systems that let analysts create new field-specific languages rooted in Lisp. Lisp was the earliest language to denote the structure of program code authentically precisely in a common data structure; a feature later labelled “homoiconicity”. So Lisp programmes can be operated, transformed or even formed inside a Lisp program minus lower-level manoeuvrings. This is a chief merit of LISP with favour to the communicative influence and creates the language appropriate for syntactic macros and metacircular appraisal.
