Full Form of EAROM
Electrically Alterable Read Only Memory
EAROM Full Form is Electrically Alterable Read Only Memory. The EAROM or Electrically Alterable Read Only Memory is a kind of EEPROM or Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory. In EAROM, only one bit of information can be modified at a time. The process of writing, as compared to the reading, in this kind of memory is very slow. It requires a high voltage, which is nearly twelve volts, for the same. Those applications that need only partial and infrequent rewriting use EEPROM.
The EAROM can be utilized as storage of non-volatile nature in the setup information of critical systems. In numerous applications, the CMOS RAM has replaced the EAROM in multiple applications. The former gets powered by the mains power. The EAROM uses the combined characteristics of the read-only memory and RAM. Since the reprogramming of this memory is limited and has a fast read cycle, it is used in microcomputers and microprocessors.
