BR Full Form is Banana Republic. BR refers to an apparel and accessories retailer company based in San Francisco, California, the United States of America. BR is owned by a multinational corporation named Gap Inc. BR presently operates more than 600 stores situated internationally. The BR was established by a couple of Mel and Patricia Ziegler in the year 1978. The founders were popularly known for having interests in clothing items that were piqued while working in their travel-related jobs. They started a store in the Mill Area situated in Northern California. In the year 1983, Gap Inc made the acquisition of BR, which was eventually rebranded as a major luxury clothing retailer.
The original style of BR apparel such as hand-drawn catalog, literate articles, etc was replaced with luxurious styles for which the brand is contemporarily popular. As part of its marketing strategy, the company often engages in the refurbishment of historic buildings as its retail locations. BR operates 500+ stores in the United States of America alone. It has 61 stores located beyond North America. In the year 2005, BR inaugurated the opening of its first store beyond North America in Ginza, Tokyo. It debuted in South Korea, with a store in the style haven Apkujeong district of the capital Seoul in the year 2007.
In the same year, stores were opened in Kuwait City, Jakarta, and Kuala Lumpur. In the year 2008, BR opened its store in Turkey. In the same year, Saudi Arabia welcomed the opening of the first store of BR in Jeddah, and in the following year, it witnessed the second opening in Riyadh. Its clothing lines include collections and capsule collections. The former comprises Heritage, Sunday Sunday, and BR Monogram whereas the latter comprises Trina Turk, Mad Men, Issa London, Roland Mouret, L’Wren Scott, Milly NY, Anna Karenina, and Marimekko.
