Full Form of ATKT
Allowed to Keep Terms
ATKT Full Form is Allowed to Keep Terms. ATKT is a provision in the Indian system of studies wherein the students of degree / professional courses and plus 2 courses are allowed to attend the next term, semester or year even if they have not passed up to the stipulated number of papers in the previous term, semester or year. But they have to clear the previous papers before they apply for the exams of that term, semester or year.
For example, if a student has to pass 2 papers of 1st year degree course, he or she is allowed to attend the 2nd year of the course but before applying for the 2nd year exams he or she has to clear all the 1st year papers. Further, he or she may be allowed to attend the final year classes also but unless all the previous pending papers are cleared he or she will not be allowed to appear for the final exam or may not pass the course.
The number of papers to clear in ATKT may change in each university. Even for the same university, the rules may change for each course. For example, the same university in India may have an ATKT rule specific for Commerce stream and another rule for Science stream. The terms and conditions of ATKT will be provided in the university or college manual.
